The tapir (Tapirus bairdii, Gill) is a species of importance for the ecosystem that he lives, since it is a consumer and disperser of seeds, its diet is totally herbivorous, they prefer wooded bigger areas than 1, 000 ha, with``aguadas'' (areas with water) nearby, since these are part of the habitat, since often use them has a refuge when they feel threatened. The present study describes the distribution of the species in the Ejido La Lucha Dos, Othón P. Blanco, Quintana Roo, where it was carried out by means of photo-traps and search for traces such as footprints, excreta and resting-places. The ``snowball'' sampling, through which strategic places were obtained to place the photo-trap stations, in addition to interviews with the local people to know about the situation and problems of the tapir. In contrasttostudiesdone for the tapir, it was found that the problems presented in the Ejido are similar to those in other areas, such as hunting and habitat fragmentation. As for its diet is similar to that of other tapirs, in a great variety of vegetal species that appear in the places where it is distributed. The Ejido is a zone of connectivity between other areas for the tapir since it is established in safer areas for the species. Among the problems that are presented mainly is the hunting and destruction of habitat. On the other hand if the destruction continue, it can it will be affect the populations by conflicts of feeding and genetic, because would be lost the connection with other areas in which the species develops.
