Repeated dorsal skin bleeding in a female Malayan tapir is described. Hematological and biochemical analysis was normal. No bacterial nor parasitic pathogens were demonstrated in the skin lesions. A possible cause of sunburn (or photosensitization) is discussed. Low copper values may contribute to the fragility of the capillary bed and also be of importance in the pathology of these skin bleedings.
