Mucor guilliermondii was isolated for the first time in Neotropics, from tapir (Tapirus terrestris) dung collected at the Reserva Ecologica de Dois Irmaos (8 degrees 7'30 '' S and 34 degrees 52'30 '' W), located in Recife, State of Pernambuco, Northeast Brazil. An identification key for species of Mucor studied in Brazil is provided.
